Winter Solstice

yuleWinter Solstice also known as Yule, Alban Arthan, Longest Night or Christmas

The goddess gives birth to the god ( Child of Promise) who is reborn with the returning sun. Yule is a celebration of family and friends, peace, love and positive energy.

Yule marks the height of the Wild Hunt which began at Samhain and it is said the anyone who is unwary enough to be out at midnight on the winter solstice will be carried away by the hunter.

Many traditional Christmas themes and traditions stem from much older religons and times. From the birth of the Oak King (god) at Yule who is often referred to as the Child of Promise to decorating trees and the tradition of yule logs (not the cake variety but logs on which candles are placed)

Ritual starts at 4pm
